Title: Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist

Hours Status: Full Time, Wed-Sat, 10 hours per day
Pay Range:  $12.00 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Respond to mobile crisis requests through 988 and other agencies with a therapist. Provide crisis services and resources to individuals in need while responding to their crisis in their homes and/or place they are at. Offer follow up services after in person responses.  The Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist must be an individual who lives with a mental health diagnosis and/or substance use disorder and has demonstrated at least two years of commitment to his/her own personal recovery. Will provide follow up with client to assist in ongoing treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be a self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services; or a self-identified person in recovery from a substance use disorder, who meets the abstinence requirements for recovery staff in alcohol and other drug treatment programs. Person must identify on the application or cover letter how they have “lived” personal experience leading to an understanding of the needs of persons with mental health & substance abuse issues.

2. Must be certified by as a Peer Specialist at time of hire or within first 6 months.

3. Must be able to provide peer delivered services as described in Medicaid guidelines.

4. If recovering from a substance-use disorder, providing treatment services, or peer support service, in alcohol and other treatment programs, must be able to document continuous abstinence under independent living conditions, or recovery housing for the immediate past two years.

5. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen test and background check.

6. Must adhere to agency’s policies, including but not limited to, non-discrimination, safety, drug and alcohol-free workplace, violence prevention and harassment-free workplace.

7. Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, life-styles, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.

8. Valid driver’s license.

9. Flexible schedule and ability to work calmly under stressful conditions.
