Position SummaryJob Description
Electrical Engineer: Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test electronic components, sub-assemblies, and systems.
Work with 3rd party manufacturers on electronic design from concept definition to production.
Provide sustainment for existing hardware products.
Perform design reviews on newly designed and existing electronics products to identify opportunities for cost reduction and improvement of life cycle management.
Work cross-functionally to define and implement VAVE strategies
Work with Sourcing to Identify and develop suppliers to facilitate competition, mitigate risk, and introduce new technologies.
Must Have:
- At least 8 years' experience in Electrical Hardware Development and Test (full life-cycle) with an emphasis on Embedded Systems, Computer Architecture, and Circuit Design.
- Experience with the full life cycle of electronic systems development (i.e. concept definition, software requirements, working with distributors, selecting parts, developing design requirements, and manufacturing)
- Strong knowledge in circuit board design using MCUs, voltage regulators, and various discrete logic.
- Knowledge of computer components such as Video Cards, Motherboards, CPUs, SSDs, Memory Devices, monitors, and power supplies.
- Capable of independent work with little direction.
Preferred:
- At least 12 years' experience in Electrical Hardware Development, Sustainment and Technical project management with an emphasis on Embedded Systems, Computer Architecture, and Circuit Design.
- Strong knowledge of various communication protocols such as USB, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, RS-232, RS-485, JTAG, and PCIe.
- Experience in ARM and x86 Motherboard development and sustainment.
Education
Bachelor's degree required. Masters degree preferred.
