LightEdison is looking for a Project Manager to manage commercial and utility scale solar projects throughout the USA. This person will report to the Construction Director. As we continue to impact energy infrastructure on a national scale, this individual must be passionate about renewable energy and using their career to positively impact climate change.

Required Competencies:

  • A fundamental core value to "do it once, do it right". We are motivated to find individuals who can find creative approaches to work with others and achieve a common goal while balancing budget, schedule, and quality.

  • 3-10 years managing commercial construction projects and knowledge of standard construction management processes and practices. Previous management of utility scale solar projects is highly desirable, but a relevant commercial construction project management or project engineering background is acceptable.

  • Applicants with an understanding of commercial solar energy systems and/or commercial electrical systems are preferred.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Willing to work in an office environment, but have freedom to work remotely at times.

  • Willing to travel to visit assigned active construction sites and meet with field personnel as needed. Travel for this position is estimated to be (2) 2 night stays per month.

  • Ability to guide assistant project managers on the submittal process and manage key submittals as needed.

  • Ability to read construction drawings and manage construction drawings as needed.

  • Ability to create and issue subcontracts and subcontract change orders.

  • Ability to forecast against project budgets.

  • Ability to create and update a project schedule (relationships, critical path, etc).

  • Ability to review trade partner concerns, address those concerns, and document decisions made.

  • Ability to properly communicate via phone, text, and email.

  • Ability to assist in project management system implementation.

  • Ability to guide less experienced staff and use experience to educate others.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Willing to learn, grow, and help refine our processes.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as a primary project contact to all involved with the project.

  • Manage the project budget. This includes approving material purchase orders and coding against the budget, drafting and executing subcontracts, drafting and executing sub contract change orders, forecasting all general requirements and staffing through completion.

  • Manage the project schedule. This includes creation and updates.

  • Manage the end of the design process working closely with third parties engineers as a project is awarded.

  • Manage third party engineering/design contracts and change orders.

  • Scope out and Issue trade partner subcontracts.

  • Manage RFIs and issue resolution between owners, engineers, and trade partners.

  • Manage the submittal and assist in the procurement process.

  • Solicit and approve all trade partner pay applications in a timely manner.

  • Review and submit owner pay applications in a timely manner.

  • Attend all owner, trade partner, and utility coordination meetings.

  • Manage the mechanical completion, substantial completion, and final completion closeout processes.

  • Collaborate with construction field staff to make construction as streamline as possible, identify issues ahead of time and resolve those issues ahead of time where possible.

  • Review superintendent daily reports and stay in tune with the projects assigned.

  • Track key materials alongside the procurement department.

  • After time with LightEdison, train others on LightEdison project standards.

  • Lead by example, be accountable.
