Responsibilities
Construction Supervisor oversees and manages all activities related to fiber extension to our network, including managing construction vendors.
- Review construction packages to identify Right Of Way issues and verify if police supervision are required.
- Complete SOW (Statement of Work) for project and forward to vendors for project quotes. Based on expected project cost, follow corporate policies and preparing bids/ RFQ (Request For Quote).
- Submit vendor quote for Oracle input.
- Schedule walk through meeting with customers and landlord for projects.
- Field verify construction package for possible Right Of Way issues, change at customer's location, change in services ordered, etc.
- Once notified of contractor award, review quote, advice contractor of award, if underground is required have contractor call in mark outs (Code 53).
- Secure any Certificates of Insurance required from vendors.
- Review project B.O.M. (Bill of Materials) secure and/or order materials for contractor and advise management of any inventory issues.
- Complete all related Netcracker tasks for overbuilds, augments and new builds.
- Advise management of expected construction timetable, complete IBO (Initial build order) and COC (completion of construction) for all projects as required.
- Update all systems notes during project and complete all tasks as required. Updates should be completed at a minimum of once per week.
- Once project is completed by vendor, preform Quality control check before releasing the project to the next group.
- Responsible to proof all invoices and as-built for accuracy. Quality control/sign off on vendor's invoicing for adherence to rate card pricing (and/or quote), items billed for were delivered, vendor was productive, etc.
SCOPE
- Supervises, schedules, coaches and inspects construction vendor crews performing outside plant and internal installations of infrastructure and facilities to provide Lightpath services to commercial and municipal customers. Additionally, Construction Supervisor maintains and controls job schedules, productivity, quality of Vendors, and the budget for each individual build. He/she is responsible for overall customer satisfaction.
- Manage customer expectation/concern during construction portion of the project and liaison with customer for Fiber splicing and Installation departments.
- As necessary, Construction supervisor will attend meetings with potential customers to review construction procedures/practices and construction schedule in an effort to secure sale.
- Construction Supervisor is expected to use her/his experience to possibly reduce cost during construction process.
Qualifications
- Must be a High School Graduate, preferably with some college background.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in outside and inside plant construction with one year of supervisory experience.
- Must be fully proficient with PC's and associated software.
- The individual must have good interpersonal skills and prior experience in project management.
- He/she must have thorough knowledge of construction practices and procedures as well as knowledge of fiber optic materials and practices.
- The supervisor must be able to read and understand maps, building prints, architectural drawings, system prints, and engineering work orders.
- Must have a valid driver's license in the state of their residence.
- The supervisor must have a thorough knowledge of fiber and network design and be capable of making field modifications to engineering work orders as required to meet changing customer requests.
