Job Summary: The Accountant is responsible for providing strategic financial guidance, making informed decisions, and implementing financial policies to support growth and financial stability. The Accountant oversees day-to-day financial operations. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: financial planning, strategy and analysis, financial reporting, payroll, audit and tax compliance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow management.
Job Duties:
- Accounts Receivable: Accountants maintain accounts receivable records.
- Accounts Payable: Accountants maintain accounts receivable records.
- Documentation Management: Accountants maintain financial files in compliance with applicable legal requirements. They perform accounting software data entry and customer and vendor file maintenance. Financial Managers conduct routine reviews of software and files to ensure compliance.
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Accountants develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets. They analyze financial data and trends to provide insights for decision-making. Accountants assess the financial impact of business strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
- Financial Reporting: Accountants prepare and present financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. They ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to management, shareholders, and regulatory authorities.
- Cash Flow Management: Accountants manage cash flow to meet operational needs, optimize investments, and ensure liquidity. They implement effective cash management and forecasting practices.
- Financial Strategy and Risk Management: Accountants develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives. They identify areas for cost reduction and revenue enhancement. Accountants assess and mitigate financial risks. They establish and maintain internal controls and compliance with financial regulations.
- Financial Team Leadership: Accountants manage and lead the finance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. They foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
- Collaboration: Accountants collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Program Supervisors and upper management, to align financial strategies with operational goals. They maintain relationships with external partners, such as auditors, financial institutions, and other interested parties.
- Audit and Tax Compliance: Accountants coordinate annual financial audits. They ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations and manage the preparation and filing of tax returns.
- Financial Software and Systems: Accountants assist with the selection and implementation, and oversee the maintenance of financial software and systems. They ensure data accuracy and integrity in financial systems.
- Organizational Participation: Accountants are familiar with the organizational mission, vision, and values.
- Documentation: Accountants are aware of the requirements for documentation in their organization and are able to manage these requirements efficiently.
- Professionalism: Accountants pursue knowledge and information necessary to perform job duties. They follow ethical practices and maintain confidentiality. Accountants build professional relationships with supervisors and employees.

Qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's Degree preferred
- Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CMA, or CPA) are a plus
- 3-5 years of business or finance experience preferred
- Proven experience as a Financial or Accounting Manager or similar role
- The ability to maintain confidentiality, critically evaluate, reason, and problem-solve
- Strong leadership, written and verbal communication skills, and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Possess automobile insurance
- Strong knowledge of financial principles and practices, and a solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel and ability to use other computer applications (word processing, e-mail, Quickbooks, etc) in a time-efficient manner
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear
