Materials Planner

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the MP&L Manager, the Material Planner ensures the delivery of raw materials to meet production requirements and new product launch initiatives while managing inventory levels to the agreed upon min/max levels, communicating delivery status, escalating risks as appropriate and updating suppliers on changes to forecasts. This role interacts with employees at all levels of the organization and requires the ability to maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Build strong, trusting relationships with suppliers.
• Develop, maintain, and communicate material schedules and inventory positions.
• Communicate raw materials shortages, update supply plans and execute on follow-up actions.
• Contribute to key performance indicators of suppliers past due, on-time delivery, schedule attainment, inventory levels and reduction of premium freight and overtime costs.
• Monitor movement of all raw materials into plants to ensure that manufacturing and customer needs are met.
• Reconcile supplier non-conformances, return of product and re-planning of material needs.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels against target levels.
• Responsible for cycle counts and inventory accuracy of components and raw material.
• Manage long term planning for strategic suppliers and participate in supplier capacity reviews.
• Minimize obsolescence.
• Streamline and improve internal processes utilizing lean tools and standardization.

PRIMARY COMPETENCIES:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years’ experience in supply chain, planning or material management.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build win-win relationships.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience with ERP systems (PLEX experience preferred).
• Understanding of end-to-end supply chain interactions, activities, and underlying interdependencies.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines on a regular and timely basis.
• Conceptual thinker who can take a vision and create better processes and solutions.
• Willingness to work in an ever-changing environment with minimal supervision.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in an office environment and production area. Time spent on production floor may be necessary for completing certain aspects of position thus exposure to seasonally hot and humid conditions, dust, noise and other elements will occur.
