Overview:
LINC Academy, a new public charter school in Columbus, OH, is seeking Art Teachers (Grades K-2) to join our Founding Team for the 2024-25 School Year. We will open in August 2024 in the Franklinton neighborhood to serve students in Grades K-2, with a plan to grow to Grades K-5.
Our intentionally small elementary school focuses on high academic standards, leadership skill development, and community. In a safe, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment, students will experience an instructional and cultural program that deliberately, skillfully, and authentically engages them in a developmentally appropriate learning experience.
Our approach includes:
● Rigorous, research-based curriculum that supports students to develop a love for
learning, to think critically, and to achieve academic success.
● Intentional focus on early literacy skills, including word study, phonemic awareness,
and daily writing and independent reading opportunities.
● Daily programming to build leadership and social-emotional skills, delivered
through whole-school Morning Motivation assemblies and classroom morning meetings.
● Joyful monthly whole-school celebrations and community activities that promote a
positive school culture and recognize student efforts in demonstrating LINC school
values and leadership habits in action.
We are seeking skilled educators to nurture student growth academically and socially-emotionally, both in the classroom and within our school community. Our teachers collaborate to deliver a rigorous curriculum, foster a positive learning environment, leverage data for ongoing improvement, and cultivate strong school-home partnerships. We offer frequent professional development and leadership opportunities to enhance our educators' impact in the classroom, school, and beyond.
Essential Functions:
Instructional Planning and Delivery
● Develop and execute a quality arts program that complements our academic program and
aligns with the Ohio Learning Standards for Fine Arts.
● Use data to make instructional decisions.
● Collaborate with peers to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor.
Classroom and School Culture
● Implement the school-wide and classroom management policies and practices and build a
classroom culture that empowers and creates a sense of belonging for all students.
● Foster a responsive, inclusive environment that nurtures trust and respect with students
and families.
● Model the LINC Leadership Habits through all interactions with students, staff, families, and
community partners.
● Actively participate in school-wide community-building activities and events, including daily
Morning Motivation.
Team Collaboration and Support
● Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team meetings.
● Participate in the daily functions and routines of the school and adhere to school-wide
policies and procedures.
● Collaborate with all staff members to ensure that all students have consistent and
well-coordinated support.
● Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement.
● Share best practices with peers and collaborate to improve instructional practices.
● Fulfill professional commitments by ensuring punctuality and consistently meeting
deadlines.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or will have one conferred by the first day of work
● Prior teaching experience preferred
● Experience in urban schools and/or communities preferred
● Valid Ohio teaching license or in the process of obtaining a valid Ohio teaching license
● Enthusiastic about urban education and dedicated to our mission, including our focus on
leadership and social-emotional skill development.
● Highly qualified in the content area and/or grade level.
● Uses data to inform instructional strategies.
● Receptive to feedback and desire to grow professionally.
● Highly organized.
● Communicates effectively (verbal and written) with students, families, and peers.
● Thrives in fast-paced, start-up settings; adept at multitasking and finding clear solutions
amidst uncertainty.
