OVERVIEW
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world’s leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and functions as the manager of the Lincoln Center campus, which is home to 11 separate resident organizations. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout our different performance series.
In addition, LCPA supports an array of programs for Lincoln Center Education including its community and family programming. Further, LCPA supports initiatives related to events at the David Rubenstein Atrium, LC Kids, as well as numerous key institutional initiatives and projects.
Lincoln Center is a sixteen-acre campus open to the public and operational on a 24x7, 365-day basis. Utility Porters are scheduled to work 8 hour shifts and may work at any time of the day or night, and any day within the week. Specific responsibilities include:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- General cleaning activities in indoors and outdoor public spaces, surfaces, and walls
- Buffing and polishing of floors, shampooing carpets, and power washing
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and office spaces
- Replenish supplies in restrooms, and ensure that any low stock situations within the inventory are communicated
- Removes trash by emptying trash containers; transporting trash to disposal area and replacing trash liners
- Move heavy furniture, set up and break down of tables and chairs
- Operate commercial floor cleaning equipment
SEASONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Shovel snow with hand shovel (during winter season)
- Operate snow remove equipment
- Lift and place carpets on floors during rain
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stand on feet for extended periods of time during shift
- Lift at least 50 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong customer service skills and ability to be a strong team player
- Driver’s license a plus
The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and is scheduled on a swing shift, with fluctuating work hours. Weekend work is a requirement. Voluntary overtime is available, with occasional mandatory overtime to support operational needs.
The position is a union-represented role and employees are required to join the Local 32BJ union within 30 days of employment. Employees are eligible for benefits following 90 days of employment.
