Lincoln County 4H Program Advisor invites applicants for a new role as the Assistant 4-H Program Advisor. This assistant works alongside the 4-H Program Advisor to help manage all 4-H programs, events, and activities. Responsibilities include researching, planning, and executing 4-H programming within the county, coordinating volunteers and participants for special events, answering public questions, as well as maintaining compliance with all policies and procedures administered by the state 4-H program. The position does require some evening and weekend work and will be based in the Lennox facility.
Examples of Duties Include:
- Work closely with community leaders and the state 4-H program to determine youth development priorities and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures administered by the state 4-H program.
- Support the Program Advisor in developing and delivering educational programs for youth within the county.
- Preparation and management of 4-H Achievement Days and South Dakota State Fair 4-H events and any other events.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with a variety of different boards, agencies, and community members within the community.
- Facilitate ongoing meetings with the 4-H participants and their families to establish clear communication.
- Recruit and promote 4-H membership and events to increase exposure to the program.
- Proactively monitor the success of all events and meetings. Adjust objectives and approach appropriately.
- Respond to community inquiries through in-person, email, and phone calls. Assist in the administrative responsibilities of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following degree areas: Agriculture, Family Consumer Sciences, Child and/or Youth
Development plus one year of experience working with youth. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must possess strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of South Dakota 4-H Program.
