Position Summary: Supervise Mechanical Engineering Department in system design activities. Manage engineering processes required to design, build, ship, and service Lincoln Electric Automation systems.
Role qualifications:
- Must be familiar with Company quality objectives and play an active role in reaching continuous improvement objectives.
- Focus on department supervision, Personnel Development, design, development, and standardization.
Position responsibilities:
- Assist the department manager in determining and maintaining appropriate department staff levels, training, and skills consistent with business objectives.
- Focus on employee development, training, performance reviews and goal setting.
- Handle employee relations concerns with assistance from the Mechanical Engineering Manager and Human Resources.
- Determine project staffing requirements based on overall project schedule and assign/re-direct resources accordingly.
- Assist in establishing Project timelines as needed.
- Coordinate and Lead/Participate in Engineering Design Reviews as needed (mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic).
- Provide team direction in complex system start-up, de-bug and final equipment maturation.
- Assist the design teams in adhering to both a challenging project timeline as well as a tight financial budget (hours and material).
- Assist purchasing in establishing costs and suppliers for purchased items.
- Assist in developing/maintaining engineering and product standards.
- Assist the department manager in ensuring that the Mechanical Engineering Department processes are followed.
- Employee relations such as timekeeping, employee reviews, hiring practices and consistent adherence to company policy and procedure.
- Lead mentoring process of new/inexperienced engineers.
- Provide resources and assistance to Applications for Quote reviews as well as developing concepts.
- Strong knowledge in LEA LABS metrics and reports.
- Represent the Mechanical Engineering Department in the daily Gasoline Alley meetings.
Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or proven equivalent in experience required.
- 3-5 years of supervisory or lead experience required.
- Complete PC capabilities, using MS office programs and others as required, and ability to develop computer programs or spreadsheets for specific analyses.
- Experience with CAD Drafting/3-D Solid Modeling/GD&T required.
- Typically 8 years of experience in manufacturing and design of industrial automated equipment.
- Industrial hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
- Ability to develop (new) conceptual layout of product design. Analysis of product performance factors
- Must work well with Machine builders, management, and support functions.
- A commitment to company values with previous team leadership and project engineering experience.
- Educational, training, and experience requirements may be modified at the Managements Team’s discretion.
Nonessential skills and experience:
- FMEA, Equipment Capability, Safety (OSHA STDS).

- Be aware of OSHA & EPA laws and regulations as well as the Company’s Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.

- Know that the company EHS procedures are located on the ISO drive.
- Immediately notify the Supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS procedures.
