The Role at a Glance
This role will be an integral part of the Life FP&A team's GAAP and Stat quarter-end reporting, analysis, and forecasting activities. They will also be heavily involved with the annual Life plan process that takes place mostly during 4Q. The ideal candidate for this role will bring significant existing statutory accounting knowledge and help us improve our statutory capabilities. In periods of the year outside of quarter close and annual plan preparation, this role will focus on ad-hoc projects stemming from partner needs and continuous process improvement. The success of the Life FP&A team is dependent on not only getting to the right number, but also being able to connect to business strategy and distill the "why" behind the number down into a concise story that is easily understandable for senior management.
What you'll be doing
- Analyze prior quarter actuals during the quarter-end close process to identify and explain key variances. Much of the analysis will be geared towards year-over-year comparisons with increasing focus on vs. plan comparisons with a heavy focus on Stat.
- Help build out Stat Q&A process to help prepare management for questions on quarterly results.
- Drive off-cycle (i.e. 2Q & 3Q) planning to help pull forward plan tasks from 4Q
- Develop processes and design files to build up team's reporting/analysis capabilities, especially around Stat.
- Improve/refine existing team processes to enhance deliverables and reduce resource consumption
- Assorted other ad-hoc projects
What we're looking for
Must-haves
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree in related field required
- ASA designation required, FSA preferred
- 5-7 Years experience in financial analysis in life insurance industry or working with statutory accounting concepts
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Nice-to-haves:
- Familiarity with Essbase, Business Objects, and Microsoft Access very helpful
- Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills that can be leveraged in a variety of settings such as email, video calls, and group presentations
- Have a strong understanding of probability, statistics, and financial modeling concepts
- Analytical skills: ability to think critically, identify, and solve potential challenges
- Able to navigate grey areas and ambiguous circumstances to solve problems
- Ability to synthesize large volumes of data to extract insights and identify data anomalies
- Works well with others in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
- Demonstrates the ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information.
- Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.

Pay Range: $87,700 - $159,900
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
