Qualifications: Current RIDE Reading CertificationTeaching experience preferredSuccess in developing proficient readersAbility to collaborate with teachers and other professional staff regarding literacy instructionCommitment to continuous professional learning as evidenced by ongoing participation in professional opportunities aligned to district goalsKnowledge of current research-based best practices in literacy instructionKnowledge of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and instructional shiftsSuccessful InterviewRESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with teachers on the use of assessment data to drive instructionCollaborate with teachers in the analysis of data to plan and differentiate classroom instructionReading Specialists assist in the assessment of students using a variety of measures to determine appropriate placement and specific instructional needs (Elementary)Reading Specialists assess students using a variety of measures to determine appropriate placement and specific instructional needs (Secondary)Consult with teachers to understand and implement effective literacy strategiesDetermine eligibility and exit criteria for PLPsCollaborate with teachers regarding progress monitoring of PLPsPrimarily work with students in need of targeted and/or intensive interventionProvide individual and/or small group instruction for identified student Collect data and maintain records of student s receiving reading servicesProvide diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services for identified studentsParticipate in the Response to Intervention processParticipate in parent/teacher or student-led conferences and participate on the school improvement team and the Title I teamMaintain communication with parents as neededAct as a resource for teachers, parents and support staff and lead professional developmentAdditional Qualifications: Ability to select developmentally appropriate literature/materialsAbility to collaborate effectively with colleaguesAbility to assess and analyze data effectivelyAbility to communicate clearly and positively with students, colleagues, administrators, parents and guardians.

Salary : $62,000 - $78,600
