Linda Hall Library is seeking a Digital Initiatives Technician to join our team.
The Linda Hall Library is one of the world’s foremost independent research libraries devoted to science, engineering, and technology. JOB PURPOSE
The Digital Initiatives Technician is responsible for the digitization of library materials, the uploading and maintenance of digital assets, supplying patron requests using the library’s catalog and other finding aids, and working in a productive and cooperative manner with both external and internal stakeholders. This position will report to the Digital Initiatives Manager.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Receive, prioritize, and process requests received through ILLiad, Rapid, email, OCLC, and phone through the Alma library system
- Perform procedures for image capture, metadata creation, and post-processing of digital images
- Review requests for copyright compliance, making copyright payments when appropriate
- Perform routine review and maintenance to ensure the integrity of equipment and digital assets
- Manage and track materials loaned from the library’s physical collection
- Work in close cooperation with staff attached to collections, public services, the fellowship program, and stacks
- Communicate with and assist library patrons and fellows
Requirements
- Experience with imaging equipment, digitization, and document delivery applications; familiarity with Alma and a recent version of Adobe Photoshop CS preferred
- Ability to handle oversized and fragile materials with care
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience involving digitization and/or document delivery
- Library experience and digital imaging experience preferred

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a normal library environment. Exposure to dust and/or mold working with old or fragile library materials.
