Job Overview:
Linde Gases US (LGUS) is in search of a Project Engineering Manager within the Customer Engineering Services Team. The manager will lead a team of engineers and designers responsible for the design, project execution, and commissioning of engineered customer supply systems. Customer supply systems generally consist of cryogenic storage tanks, vaporizers, pumps, high pressure receivers, controls and instrumentation at customer locations delivering atmospheric gases, hydrogen, helium, and CO2. This position must work effectively across the organization to provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective supply system solutions to customers.
This position will directly manage a team of engineers and designers (7-10 people). This position functions independently with minimal supervision, managing a project team responsible for approximately 30 active projects totaling $15MM-$30MM in capital. The manager must be a technical expert able to review and approve engineered design packages ensuring systems meet external and internal design codes as well as customer service standards. With an in-depth knowledge of supply system equipment and project management principles, the engineering manager must lead the project team through properly sizing and selection of equipment, engineering the supply system, project execution, and commissioning.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage team of engineers, designers, and subordinate managers responsible for engineered supply system design and project execution.
- Review and approval of engineered drawings including layout, civil, P&IDs, mechanical skids, electrical panels, SWDs.
- Ensures alignment of area’s priorities with broader organizational initiatives by allocating resources and aligning project priorities with regional business priorities.
- For project deliverables, schedules and budgets – communicate to internal and external management regarding projects, resources, commitments to customers.
- Establish operating policies and procedures for the work unit, defining engineering requirements, documentation, and policies for project team to meet safety and performance expectations.
- Sets the team’s timelines and objectives, communicating them to the larger organization, and is accountable for meeting them.
- Makes timely technical decisions that have extended impact on work processes and outcomes based on awareness of viability, cost and other benefits; sometimes with limited information and under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting, field support for operations, including being on call outside normal business hours.
- Trains other engineers to perform tasks unique to Customer Service applications. Review and approve work of other engineers.
- Interacts frequently with internal and external management and resources to manage workload to support business growth needs.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design required.
- 3 years of management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise with industrial gas supply systems equipment and design required.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously and collaborating with external partners including customers and suppliers.
- Has extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering and working knowledge of other engineering disciplines – civil, electrical, and controls.
- Knowledge of design Codes and Standards, including ASME, NFPA, and CGA
- Ability to communicate to all audiences.
- Ability to meet schedule deadlines and budgets.
- Willingness and ability to travel 15% domestically.

Pay Range: 130,000 - 170,000
