Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic I will perform preventative maintenance and repairs to include but not limited to light carpentry, drywall repairs and finishing, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and door hardware.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Run the daily maintenance operations of the property and buildings under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Inspect property and buildings for life/safety issues and take immediate corrective action. Identify building maintenance needs, prioritize work and take corrective actions.
- Perform a range of skilled building maintenance. Repair and maintain a variety of mechanical equipment. Read and interpret sketches, drawings, diagrams and blueprints.
- Perform plumbing work including the installation and replacement of plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, and faucets, clear obstructions from water and sewer lines.
- Complete inspection and preventive maintenance reports from the work order system, recommend, prioritize, and perform corrective maintenance as required. Operate, maintain and repair a variety of mechanical tools, equipment and various hand tools required for carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance skills.
- Make adjustments to the HVAC System through the use of the Building Automations System. Monitor the Refrigeration Systems through VersaTrak.
- Actively participate in the positive development of other facilities maintenance team members and the development of technical knowledge of the team.
- Participate in on-call rotational schedule.
Position Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Completion of a recognized program in vocational training for the mechanical or electrical trades is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in the mechanical or electrical trades is required.
- Maintenance experience within a hospital environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, and be able to stand or walk about 90% of a work shift. Must be able to ascend and descend on ladders and tight work spaces. Must be able to see, talk and hear coworkers, patients and others. Some exposure to dust and noise; some heavy lifting, standing, climbing; may work at heights; work in inclement weather conditions to include snow shoveling.
