About our Company
We are seeking a dynamic Pastry Sous Chef to join our team.  A successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the hospitality industry and an entrepreneurial spirit.

No Goodbyes @ The LINE DC is an all-day neighborhood hangout devoted to the ingredients in DC’s own backyard— The Chesapeake Bay region. Chef Opie Crooks (a StarChefs Rising Stars Award-winner) and the No Goodbyes team tap the farmers, fishers, and ranchers of the East Coast, to create an eclectic mix of feel-good dishes—from carrot cake oatmeal to “Wild & Wonderful” ramp spaghetti—morning, noon, and night.  
 
They say Atlantic sailors in the 1800s had a rule for their friends and family each time they left shore— never say goodbye. It was a practice meant to inspire good luck: no goodbyes meant a swift, safe return. No Goodbyes at the LINE DC extends that sentiment to all travelers. Responsibilities
  1. Must be courteous and gracious, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times
  2. Establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel
  3. Offer guests an enjoyable experience that conforms to the company’s standards of excellence, professionalism and friendliness
  4. Interest in a wide variety of baking pastry production: from classic Americana-style pastries to viennoiserie to sourdough hearth style breads, and from ice cream to pâte de fruit, to composed desserts and individual garnishing components.
  5. Must possess a passion for producing a wide variety of pastry in a and baking in a high volume, fun and growth challenging kitchen
  6. Responsible for his or her baking pastry and prep lists throughout the shift, including ensuring all needed supplies for the shift are available, prepped timely and according to training, and finished and labeled accurately
  7. Work with all other employees within the hotel as a contiguous team; maintain open, respectful communication with all staff
  8. Maintain a tidy, organized work space, and personal health and hygiene in conformation with established sanitation standards
  9. Follow all expectations of restaurant specifics
  10. Approach the craft of baking pastry with an inquisitive and open mind, take notes and adjust processes according to management’s direction, and own the responsibility to raise each other up as a team
Core Competencies
  1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  2. Three (3) years related experience in hospitality or service industry preferred
  3. Strong communication skills
  4. Collaborative spirit
  5. Ethical Conduct
  6. Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Office, Opera PMS   
  7. Positive Attitude
  8. Eye for Detail
  9. Problem solving abilities
