TITLE

 

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST, BILINGUAL – SPECIAL EDUCATION AND EVALUATION SERVICES PROGRAM

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Master’s degree or higher.
2. One of the following:
• Speech Language Pathology License as issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology
OR – If licensed before 2015;
• Oregon Teaching License with Special Education: Communication Disorders endorsement and American Speech and Hearing Association, Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech Language Pathology, or actively pursuing this Certificate.
3. Demonstrated successful experience in special education, including work with high needs populations.
4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
5. Fluent oral and written Spanish communication skills. Ability to conduct any appropriate testing pertinent to the position, in Spanish.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the LBL Board of Directors/Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Special Education and Evaluation Services Program Administrator

 

JOB GOAL

Successfully participate as a member of the school team in order to meet individual communication and other education needs of identified students. Provide assessment, evaluation, direct and speech/language services consultations for students 4 - 21.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position. Individual employees may perform all or some combination of the duties listed below as well as other related duties.

 

Essential functions:

1. Provide or direct the provision of speech and/or language therapy and services to identified students with communication disorders in both Spanish and English.
2. Assist education staff in observing and referring students with suspected communication disorders.
3. Provide individual evaluations in speech and language, as well as other areas that may be assigned, to identify students with communication disorders.
4. Provide comprehensive written report of observations, assessment results, and recommendations within the standards established by the EECC.
5. Participate as a specialist of communication disorders in determining eligibility.
6. Prepare and implement Individualized Education Programs for identified students on caseload.
7. Participate in developing integrated goals with other education staff for students with multiple or other disabilities.
8. Serve as a resource and consultant to provide specialized suggestions and/or materials for use by regular classroom staff or parents in the delivery of speech/language services or generalizations of previously acquired skills.
9. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings and following schedules.
10. Consult with school personnel regarding individual student program needs.
11. Work well within a team. Promote good staff morale and put team needs above individual needs.
12. Collaborate with others to complete tasks and solve problems in a positive manner.
13. Communicate effectively in a courteous, tactful and professional manner.
14. Participate in the Medicaid billing process for school-based services as directed.
15. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as needed.

Other Functions:

1. Compile and maintain required service records and documentations for assigned students on caseload.
2. Assist district in compliance with federal and state special education law requirements.
3. If assigned, provide supervision and paperwork requirements of American Speech – Language – Hearing Association (ASHA) Clinical Fellows, as requested by agency or districts and assigned by the program administrator.
4. If assigned, oversee activities, supervision and paperwork requirements of Oregon Board of Examiners certified Speech – Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).
5. Maintain confidentially at all times.
6. Adjust /adapt services as determined by work environments such as regular classroom or separate therapy room.
7. Demonstrate a commitment to promoting equity and diversity.
8. Maintain professional dress standards.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Ability to work in a variety of settings including classroom, school buildings, and office environments.
2. Ability to sit in child-sized chairs for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to sit on the floor for extended periods of time.
4. Ability to provide own transportation as deemed necessary for traveling to schools and districts throughout the school day.
5. Ability to lift, carry or transport up to 25 pounds.
6. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in vehicle and at desk.
7. Ability to use computer to generate documents on a word processor or database for extended periods of time.
8. Ability to stay overnight when providing services to assigned geographic locations in the three-county region.

    • Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
    • Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD licensed salary schedule will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, and experience
    • Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and vision insurance premiums
