Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Purchasing/ Supply Chain Manager, the Purchasing Associate must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to ensure that assigned suppliers meet standards for quality, delivery, and price. The Purchasing Assistant will maintain purchase orders and delivery schedule on the company ERP system. The job requires daily interaction with suppliers assigned to specific commodity groups to resolve any issue affecting supply chain efficiency and reliability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction and supervision of the corporate buyer, create, issue, and maintain purchase orders and ensure receipt of international purchases.
- International travel (passport required) periodically as needed.
- Negotiate and follow up on delivery schedule
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and paperwork errors
- Report delivery status, issues and propose solutions
- Work closely with the S&OP Planning group to ensure timely availability of existing and new products and components.
- Actively interact with: Procurement, Manufacturing Management, Planners, Quality Manager, Receiving Personnel and Management, Accounting Personnel
- Understand business implications of supplier actions
- Interact with others to manage projects
- Hands on, not afraid to walk through the plant to resolve issues

Education and Experience:
- Up to 2 years of college coursework is preferred or equivalent professional level work experience
- Solid computer skills using Microsoft suite of products as well as company database.
