Summary/Objective:

Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed customer requirements.

The Quality Engineer is also responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards, procedures, and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement quality assurance plans, standards, and procedures.
  2. Monitor and analyze product and performance data.
  3. Ensure that products meet customer requirements.
  4. Investigate customer complaints and initiate correction action through resolution.
  5. Ensure that products conform to applicable standards.
  6. Develop and implement process control systems.
  7. Provide technical guidance and support to production and design departments.
  8. Participate in design reviews and provide feedback.
  9. Manage and coordinate quality assurance activities.
  10. Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring suppliers meet quality standards. This includes conducting supplier audits and assessing supplier quality systems.
  11. Develop and maintain metrics to monitor the performance of products and processes.
  12. Identify and analyze trends in customer satisfaction, quality, and performance.
  13. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  14. Establish and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.
  15. Investigate and resolve quality issues.
  16. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  17. Participate in continuous improvement projects.
  18. Engage in a positive manner with team members from all disciplines to ensure common goals are being met (production, material handling, lean manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, safety, maintenance, shipping/receiving, customer service, etc.)
  19. Provide adequate care and maintenance of all equipment and resources used, including performing required calibrations and preventive maintenance where necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors, office environment.
  • May sit for several hours at a time.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens.
  • Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.

Competencies:

  1. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in external organizations.
    1. e. suppliers, customers, and production personnel
  2. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  3. CMM (Coordinate measuring machine) experience desired but not required.
  4. Able to work in a team environment.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  1. Ability to walk large distances (in all local weather conditions) to retrieve/return components is a must.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and the Quality Manager.

Travel:

Travel will be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  2. Minimum of 4 years of experience in a formal quality assurance role/experience is preferred.
  3. Knowledge of the standard quality assurance practices relative to audit, calibration, measurement techniques, and statistical techniques.
  4. Microsoft Office experience is required - Word, Excel, Access.
  5. Familiar with Solidworks and ENOVIA.

Must be able to pass EVerify.
