  • Summary/Objective:

    The Design Engineer will maintain existing products and aide in new product development.  Primary responsibilities would include creation and management of prints, models, and bill of materials as well as engineering oversight and approval of requested design revisions. This individual will work closely with an internal cross-functional team as well as external customers and suppliers. The job includes close attention to detail, maintaining and improving drawing standards and engineering processes, while also working with a sense of urgency and sensitivity to timelines.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing products, prints, models, and bill of materials
  • Create models, prints, and BOM for new product development
  • Design improvement and cost reduction on existing products
  • Complete thorough tolerance stack-up analysis on new and existing designs
  • Communicate with customers to achieve goals
  • Cooperate with intercompany personnel to achieve goals
  • Works in multidisciplinary teams to complete projects and ensure a smooth transition of the product into production
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineering and Suppliers to assure most efficient methods of manufacture (DFM) and assembly (DFA) are developed to meet appropriate specifications
  • Assist in establishing and/or upgrading internal engineering standards and practices
  • Assist in sourcing and building samples and prototypes
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Lippert’s safety and personnel policies including core values

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    This position has no supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

    Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

    While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, and kneeling all day. The team member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and the reporting manager.

    Travel:

    Travel will be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day.

    Education and Experience:

    • Degree in engineering related field preferred
    • 3D CAD software experience required, SolidWorks experience highly preferred
    • Experience with PDM system required
    • Familiarity with RV products and applications required

    Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
