The Automation Engineer is responsible for:
The Automation Engineer provides technical support for the automation equipment at the Liquibox North American fitment and bag/bottle facilities. This engineer is on a team that helps bring in new equipment and maintains and upgrades existing automation equipment. This includes high-speed assembly machines as well as conveyors and ancillary plastic molding equipment.
Day-to-day, you can find yourself working on:
- Establish new assembly processes for new and existing product lines.
- Collaborate with NPD Engineers early on during the design process with a focus on Design for Manufacturing and implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Participate in customer piece part and assembly design efforts, suggesting improvements for manufacturability.
- Review and approve process changes.
- Analyze work order history to determine where to prioritize equipment repairs/PMs/upgrades
- Lead CAPA efforts for concerns related to automation equipment and assemblies.
- Identify plant-wide inefficiencies and propose/implement corrective actions.
- Facilitate engineering projects (define requirements, test & compile data, research alternatives, analyze results, perform cost analysis, and make recommendations, and implement).
Who you are:
- 5 years of experience in assembly processes or equivalent work experience
- 4-year degree/diploma in industrial or technical discipline or equivalent work experience
- Strong mechanical & mathematical skills, PLC programming proficiency, and experience with controls systems installation and maintenance.
- Ability to read electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, and part prints.
