Senior Staff Teacher (Infant Toddler)

The following is a list of activities and job functions for which the Lead Teacher has primary responsibility. The Lead Teacher will be required to perform other duties as needed to maintain the Center at an optimal level for all children, their families, and all staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

Classroom

  • Develop, prepare, and implement curriculum.
  • Supervise and monitor age-appropriate activities.
  • Supervise children-monitor, direct, protect, encourage, and nurture children.
  • Ensure classroom is orderly and toys are placed in proper areas after use.
  • Centers need to be clearly defined and utilized appropriately.
  • Maintain a safe, fun, healthy environment for children.
  • Lesson plans need to be followed daily.
  • Supervision is maintained at all times.
  • Assist children in developing good habits including tasks associated with toilet training and diaper changing and proper hand washing techniques.
  • Exhibits proper communication skills-verbal and written.

Child and Family Interaction

  • Maintain communication with parents.The lead teacher must effectively communicate daily with parents verbally and through written daily sheets and periodic progress reports.
  • Maintaining an environment that is tolerant and respectful of child and family cultures, values and differences.
  • Establishing professional relationships with individual children and families and being responsive to their needs.
  • Provide families with information and assistance with community resources.
  • Plan and attend center and classroom special functions related to the children and parents.
  • Report evidence of suspected abuse/neglect to local Department of Social Services.

Center Operation and Facility:

  • Evening Checklist is accomplished (if applicable.)
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities when required for Enrichment Programs.
  • Assist director with center operations such as supply, emergency preparedness, and safety programs when necessary.
  • Represent the center in the community and act as a liaison with other agencies.
  • Assist in maintaining an appealing appearance of the classrooms, common areas and playground.
  • Child attendance is accurately maintained
  • Inform owner or director when items are broken or missing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be capable of lifting a weight of up to 40 pounds.
  • The ability to stretch & bend is a minimum expectation.
  • Staff should also have the ability to push emergency evacuation cribs if necessary.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Meet health and medical guidelines as required by MD Law. Meet criteria to be determined qualified after criminal background and fingerprint checks.
  • Attend staff meetings, required training, continuing education and required in service training as determined by MD Licensing.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork to apply to participate in the MD Credential Program and complete continued training and professional activities for the applicable credential level.
  • Arrives on time for the scheduled work day

· Attends 4 or more Professional functions at Little Protégés during the calendar year, such as Open Houses, Meet the Teachers, or activities that represent and promote Little Protégés in the community.

· Uniform appears to be neat, clean and fitting

· Presents a professional image and appearance

Education/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and necessary coursework needed for current or available position.

· Meet all and current requirements as designated by MD State Licensing Requirements (the director will make available all requirements, changes in current positions and training requirements.)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
