What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Caretaker position at Little Rays Nature Center?
Little Ray’s is hosting our 'Survival of the Slowest-Counter Intuitive Adaptations' at the Arizona Science Center. The exhibit includes numerous reptiles and our sloths, Sash and JJ! Training will be provided. Animals caretakers will be responsible for providing animal care to the onsite collection as well as providing educational interpretation and presentations to visiting guests.
Schedule
Position starts June 1st and runs until the end of August.
Exhibit operates 7 days weekly and hours are 10:30am-4pm. Typical schedule will be 8am-1pm Monday-Thursdays. Availability to cover sick or vacation days of other staff is an asset.
Ideal Experience and Attributes
Animal care experience, particularly with reptiles, valuable but not necessary.
Not afraid to get dirty, no fear of working with reptiles, arachnids, feeder insects or frozen rodents.
Approachable and comfortable with public speaking
Enjoys talking to and educating all ages of public
Ability to work and communicate well with a small team
Observant and detailed orientated
Having a vehicle and license to be able to do supply runs or vet trips is an asset, but not mandatory - mileage for vehicle use will be compensated.
