Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate Retail Sales Associate who is eager to take on an Instructor role, guiding and supporting adults with developmental disabilities in developing essential retail and customer service skills. This unique position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact both within our team and in the wider community by promoting inclusivity, education, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Instructional Leadership: Provide hands-on instruction and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities in various aspects of retail operations, including customer service, cash handling, inventory management, and merchandising.
2. Skill Development: Support the professional growth and development of team members, focusing on building confidence, communication skills, and job readiness.
3. Community Engagement: Act as an ambassador for Little Red Hen, engaging with customers and community members to promote awareness, understanding, and appreciation for our mission and the abilities of the individuals we employ.
4. Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, supervisors, and external partners to ensure a supportive and inclusive work environment, fostering teamwork, respect, and mutual understanding.
5. Evaluation and Feedback: Regularly assess the progress and performance of team members, providing constructive feedback, encouragement, and support to help them achieve their goals.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service preferred.
- Previous experience in the field of horticulture preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate plant ID, pest control, basic landscaping knowledge
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and engage with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate varying learning styles and needs.
