Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Admissions Director and Business Office Manager to determine who will be in need of a Medicaid application
Meet with all new residents within 72 hours of admission
Create a MA ending case file
Work with caseworkers and family to provide necessary documentation until the case is approved
Contact banks, insurance companies, pension companies requesting verification needed to determine consumers MA eligability
Meet all deadlines associated with each MA pending case to ensure that appropriate MA effective date is obtained
Attend hearings as needed
Upon receipt of PA 162, review for accuracy, effective date, income, deductions, etc. Scan to billing office, PA Regional BOM, RNAC's BOM and Adminstrator. File one in PA 162 and one in residents file.
Complete Medicaid Redeterminations timely and return to County Assistance Office to prevent cases from being closed.
Attend monthly AR Review on MA Pending.
Education & Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited high school or GED preferred.
2 years of college or a degree in accounting preferred.
Computer knowledge desirable
A physical examination and/or evidence from a physician indicating freedom of communicable disease to be available upon employment.
Must be in good physical and mental health.
Ability to work independently or part of a group.
Effectively communicate with others.
Experience
1 year supervisory experience required. Previous long-term care experience is desirable.
2 years business office and/or accounting experience required. Specific Requirements
Must possess the ability to make independent decision when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, resident, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Knowledge of elderly ill and/or disabled.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
Basic understanding of following step-by-step procedures.
Follows and understands written and oral directions.
Knowledge of equipment used in long-term care (e.g., lifts, wheelchairs, Geri chairs, and scales).
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
