Wages: $16.50-$18.00/hour

Position Summary: The Community Engagement Coordinator supports the development team in identifying and writing grant applications to grant-making organizations to invest in Living History Farms and its mission throughout the year. The position will also coordinate the direct mail program and fundraising appeals. This position will focus primarily on fundraising proposals and grants to meet or exceed fundraising goals for the annual fund, Farmstasia (gala), capital projects, and special appeals. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice to maximize Living History Farms’ fundraising potential and strategic objectives.

Duties:

  • Composes letters of inquiry/intent for potential grants related to annual fund, sponsorships, fundraising events, capital campaign, comprehensive, and capital expansion purposes.
  • Writes grant proposals for campaign, comprehensive, and capital expansion purposes, as well as reports for awards received. Tasks include tracking deadlines and requirements for each foundation, corporate, or government grant opportunity; maintaining the appropriate updates, coordinating with key professional staff on needed materials and/or information; and assisting the department manager and director in compiling and submitting complete applications and reports.
  • Develops fundraising messages and themes and coordinates the production schedule for all direct mail appeals in coordination with the director and President.
  • Meets proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information-gathering, writing, review approval, and submission. The successful candidate will have excellent time management skills and be able to meet submission deadlines without question. • Manage gift processing, including entry of all cash, in-kind, and stock gifts into Raiser's Edge/CRM and ensure timely acknowledgement of receipts.
  • Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating needs associated with the proposal.
  • Coordinates deliverables, as identified in grant proposals/award notifications, timelines for execution, and data collection for use in reports.
  • Works with, collaborates, and communicates with all members of the staff, Board of Trustees, and volunteers.
  • Maintain and create monthly reports on revenue goals and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate and plan Farmstasia, annual fundraising event, in conjunction with the Events Supervisor.
  • Develops basic technology skills and shows enthusiasm for learning new technologies and CRM systems.
  • May be asked to attend events/meetings outside regular business hours throughout the year.
  • Shows a commitment to serving the public. Ensures that actions meet public needs and strives for continuous improvement.
  • Conducts oneself with the highest standards of decorum, objectivity, and professional integrity in every circumstance that relates to the operations of Living History Farms or may influence the endeavors or reputation of the museum. Shall not misrepresent the mission, objectives, policies, or programs of the museum.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, in both written and verbal forms. This includes being able to take a large amount of information and summarize it quickly, both in writing and presenting on a regular basis. Ability to track communication across multiple channels with accuracy.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may supervise an individual and groups of volunteers throughout the year.

Education and Skills

  • This position requires an undergraduate degree and prior experience in non-profit grants writing with demonstrated success, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize daily work and assist team members to complete work assignments.
  • Proficient communications skills.
  • Superior persuasive writing skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated success in managing databases, excel spreadsheets and tracking funds is essential.
  • Innovative self-starter who can work efficiently within budgeted parameters and available resources.
  • Excellent customer service skills and an ability to interact professionally with a broad range of stakeholders (co-workers, board members, volunteers, guests, donors, members).
  • Min Education: BA/BS/undergraduate
  • Min Experience: 1-2 Years annual fundraising and grant writing

Position Hours: Office hours are typically Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. Some evenings, weekends, and Holiday hours are required as fundraising deadlines and museum programs and events dictate.

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
