POSITION SUMMARY

The following position is available as part of a collaborative effort between the Brighton Area Schools, Fowlerville Community Schools, Hartland Consolidated Schools and Livingston Educational Service Agency. Outlined below is basic information regarding the position. The Technical Support Specialist I will be assigned to multiple consortium districts, service all of the districts in the collaborative and will report jointly to the local Technology Director and to the Chief Technology Officer at Livingston ESA.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Repairing, imaging, inventory, and software installation of computers and other peripherals.
  • Answer technical questions and help users become efficient in the application of current and new technology
  • Assist staff in the full utilization of standard software package features
  • Prioritize, track, and report technology work orders
  • Repair, image, inventory, and deploy software for assigned consortium district technology assets
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all technology assets
  • Manage deployment and redeployment of technology assets within assigned consortium school districts
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, clean and repair assigned consortium district technology assets and associated software
  • Assist the Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer and System Analyst in day to day tasks
  • Train and mentor consortium technology staff on areas of expertise

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

 

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
  • Experience with desktop, laptop and printer hardware maintenance required.

 

KEY CHARACTERISTICS

The preferred candidate will have successful experience troubleshooting various operating system environments both desktop and mobile. Knowledge of K-12 educational organizations and the ability to communicate and facilitate with staff is essential to the success of the technician.

 

EVALUATION

Performance for this position will be evaluated on an annual basis.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff, parents, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and sit, maneuver over/under fixtures (climb, crawl) and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate to quiet.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
