Home Health Aide Job Description: Duties and Qualifications
A Home Health Aide, or Personal Care Aide, are professional caregivers responsible for helping patients maintain their personal health and hygiene in their place of residence. Their duties include shopping for groceries and preparing meals, grooming patients, and handling basic logistics such as paying bills or scheduling appointments.
Home Health Aide Duties and Responsibilities:
Home Health Aides help patients in a variety of ways, which may include taking their vital signs, and helping patients with their daily functions, such as dressing or taking a bath. They can assist with planning for doctor’s appointments or other meetings and may organize transportation for them.
Typical duties:
- Ensure client receives medication on time
- Support the client who can’t move on their own
- Help client dress, bathe, eat etc.
- Assist client with physical therapy exercises
- Do necessary housekeeping to maintain a clean environment
- Enable clients to stay in their home by monitoring and recording their condition
- Assist with daily activities of living such as bathing, dressing, grooming
- Light housekeeping
- Medication reminders
- Prepare a meal
- Provide transportation to appointments, grocery stores, shopping etc.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for the client
