This position will utilize CADD platforms to perform design work on bridges, retaining walls, drainage structures, and other similar structures. Experience in both Microstation and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus, but not required. Experience with one of the programs is required, with the expectation to learn the other once hired. Looking for an individual that wants the opportunity to grow as a designer and work to become a lead design or project coordinator in the future. General Responsibilities:
- Understanding technical design requirements and specifications required by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)
- Prepare Plans, Specifications, & Estimate (PS&E) documents for TxDOT and local government projects using Microstation SS4, Geopak, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Understanding of standard construction materials and choosing appropriate specifications
- Use CAD software to layout the geometrical design of projects based on project constraints.
- Layout Plan & Profiles, working with alignments, profiles, surfaces, section details, etc.
- Work closely with team members, engineers, and other departments to ensure all project items are accounted for in the design plans.
- Calculate quantities of materials from construction plans.
- Maintain accurate cadd files, meeting any standards set by the project or the department.
- Maintain accurate plotting procedures and file organization within the project files.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with design groups as well as clients via email, phone, and in meetings.
Required Education/Licenses:
- Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience
Required Experience:
- 2 years of extensive drafting and engineering technician experience using Microstation, Geopak,
- Familiar with TxDOT Bridge Standard Drawings
- Effective communication skills both oral and written
- Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers and public agency officials
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
Preferred Experience: AutoCAD Civil 3D and Open Bridge Modeler
