We are currently seeking a candidate to fill the position of Water Resources Practice Lead to be located in North Carolina. We anticipate growing our water resources operations throughout the company geography. The ideal candidate will be expected to set strategy and execute the actionable steps to engage practice expansion with existing and potential clients, to immediately impact our firm’s growth, ensure the delivery of quality products, and provide “best practice” solutions to serve our clients. The candidate must exhibit a professional attitude, visionary thinking, innovative ideas, analytical problem solving, and a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.
The following criteria are standards for consideration:
EDUCATION AND REGISTRATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent required
P.E. license is required
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
- 15 - 20 years’ or more experience in water resources and hydraulic design
- Experience working on public and private sector projects
- Experience with clients in North Carolina; experience in other LJB geographies is a plus
- AutoCad Civil 3D, Micro Station and GEOPAK drainage HEC-RAS and/or Flowmaster software
- OpenRoads Designer is preferred
- Project management skills such as, schedule management, financial project management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
JOB DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Own the strategic vision and growth of water resources services within LJB, team management, tracking and evaluating performance in relation to KPI’s, project technical resource, client management, and proactive business development planning & implementation.
Utilize strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, as well as problem-solving abilities, in this highly visible position.
Lead project delivery on key pursuits through provision of technical direction and oversight to the design team; oversight of fiscal management relative to scope, schedule and budget; promote adherence to client management, implementation of quality control processes and appropriate level of delegation to, and oversight of, key supporting staff.
Technical responsibilities and services could include any or all Municipal Stormwater Programs; Stream and Wetland Restoration; Stormwater BMP Retrofitting and Design; Lake and Dam Engineering; Floodplain Analysis and FEMA Permitting; Stormwater, Wetland and Water Quality Permitting; Ecological Services; preparing preliminary and final site and/or roadway drainage designs for private, federal, state and municipal projects; preparing bridge and culvert hydraulic reports/designs for both FEMA-regulated and non-regulated streams; and managing projects as necessary.
Along with the possible services above, the ideal candidate will have the following: in-depth familiarity with municipal, county, state and federal design policies and procedures; experience with hydraulic modeling for bridges and culverts over FEMA-regulated streams; hydraulic design and plan preparation experience.
