What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strength and Conditioning Specialist position at LMR Technical Group?
LMR Technical Group (LMR) is seeking Strength and Conditioning Specialist to support the US Marine Corps (USMC) Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention program. Physical training is a large component of how the USMC readies its personnel for its mission. Utilization of evidence-based training methods as well as best practice injury recover techniques enable the USMC to establish effective physical training regimes, mitigate injuries, and assess/treat injuries when they occur. This established program goal is to reduce injuries and lost workdays associated with musculoskeletal injuries. Human performance includes integrated, performance-based strength and conditioning programs that will accelerate the return to duty of those encumbered by performance related injuries
Strength and Condition Specialist Qualifications:
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in an appropriate field which may include kinesiology, athletic training, exercise science, exercise physiology, biomechanics, or education.
- Possess and maintain certification as a Strength and Condition Coach/Specialist (e.g., National Strength and Conditioning Association, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist).
- Possess and maintain a current certification in American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS AND CPR to include AED training.
- Possess at least 5 years of demonstrated experience and must possess experience of at least. 12 months within the preceding 36 months in the same or similar work as Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Creditably specialized experience shall include conducting long and short-range planning and coordination of new functional training. Attributable results and relevant experience in a SOF, Division I collegiate, Olympic, or professional level athletic environment is preferred.
- Possess and maintain a level of fitness to demonstrate all prescribed exercises/techniques and to hike over rough terrain and function in austere environments.
- Possess and maintain the ability to lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 25 kilograms/50 lbs.
- Possess and maintain knowledge of human performance technology and its utilization in program design (i.e., wearable GPS, body sensors, biomechanical assessments, and Athlete databases).
- Must be willing to work as a team with USMC Command Elements, Athletic Trainers, and Force Fitness Instructor’s. Possess and maintain the ability to understand the role of other Human Performance elements, such as, Sports Medicine Physicians, Physical Therapists, and Athletic Trainers.
