Job description
Technical Analyst
As a manufacturer of over the counter pharmaceuticals, LNK International performs all tasks related to pharmaceutical manufacturing, including packaging. The engineering department focuses on the packaging side of the business and ways in which it can be improved, automated, and deliver a consist output of finished goods. It is the responsibility of a technical analyst to aid or oversee projects assigned to, or related to the engineering department, or any projects that the engineering department is offering assistance to another depart on. One of the key functions of a technical analyst is to use AutoCAD to draw, analyze, or edit floor plans for packaging lines, or other technical drawings. It is very common for someone in this position to discuss equipment or tooling related projects with vendors, as well as the departments within LNK that the project could affect. Departments such as: packaging, QA, sales, and occasionally the executive staff. A technical analyst will work closely with the Engineering managers, the Director of Engineering, and the mechanic’s supervisors. Travel to other LNK buildings in Hauppauge, NY is not uncommon and occasional travel to packaging shows or to vendor facilities for factory acceptance tests may be necessary.
Responsibilities:
Aiding in the purchase, setup, and startup of new equipment
- Gather requirements and generate RFP’s
- Speak with vendors to help finalize machine specifications
- Draw a floorplan in AutoCAD that will show new production line layout and workflow
- Coordinate internal processes to make ensure that they are carried out in a fashion that meets the timeline of the project
Vendor and Project management
- Working with various trades and suppliers to coordinate machine installations
- Oversight of Compressed Air systems
- Work with vendors to coordinate repairs, maintenance, and improve compressed are system
- Working with vendors to order machine tooling
- Define the project for the vendor and place order for tooling when needed
- Check the work of the vendor to make sure tooling drawings match the scope of the project before the tooling is manufactured
- Set up and oversee the training of mechanics on machinery by the OEM or an in-house expert
Component Testing
- Test new or in use materials to ensure a satisfactory performance
If materials do not work with a machine, then LNK cannot package product. This is a critical role of the engineering department
Departmental Administration
- Oversee and keep records of the department’s projects
- Intake of departmental material testing requests
- Keep an organized and detailed log of all ongoing and completed projects
- Generate timelines when necessary
- Review invoices and process for payment
- Oversight of departmental calendar
Required:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Science, or a related field
- Those with an Associate’s Degree of Engineering Science may be considered
Experience using AutoCAD
High level written and verbal communication skills
Good organizational and project management skills
Ability to analyze and interpret technical documentation
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, MS Visio
Preferred:
- Experience using AutoCAD, Solidworks, Fusion, etc.
- Prior experience in a packaging environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
