Lobos Rush is looking for a Tournament Director to join our staff. Lobos Rush has been the premier soccer club in the mid-south since 1992. Located in the Memphis metropolitan area, Lobos Rush is part of Rush Soccer, the nation's largest youth soccer organization. Full management of clubs current and future tournament portfolio.
Current events include (1) Blues City Blowout, (2) SoccerElite Fall Championship, (3) SoccerElite Spring Championship, (4) SE College Showcase Girls, (5) SE College Showcase Boys, (6) Wolf River Classic Boys, (7) Wolf River Girls, (8) Premier Invitational.
Future expansion could include, but not limited to, small sided events, additional tournaments or other activities at the discretion of the clubs Executive Board
Tournament Director will responsible for all phases of marketing, planning and execution of each event. The is a full-time office position that will also require onsite management at every event.
This position will report to the Executive Director and will require quarterly reporting to the clubs Executive Board..
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Extensive experience in event management
- Knowledge of youth sports and particularly the soccer community in the United States
- Superior oral and written communications skills
- Focused on customer service
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred but not required.
- Passion for marketing and event management
- Knowledge and experience with GOTSPORT platform
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Quickbooks & email marketing software
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Strong organizational skills to be able to manage numerous projects at once
- Willingness to ask questions, give input, accept advice and take direction
- Creative problem solver
- Confidence in presenting plans and projections to senior management and Board of Directors
- Ability to build strong relationships, internally and with outside partners
- Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and attention to detail
- Ability to work nights and weekends and travel
- Ability to lift heavy objects and equipment
Operations
- On-site tournament director for every event
- Pre-tournament logistical organization and management
- Develop tournament schedules to account for team requirements, referee availability, field availability and coaching conflicts
- Manage all onsite event staff, referee assignor, volunteers and medical staff.
- Work with facility operators to develop a schedule of events for each tournament
- Communicate scheduling with referee assignor for scheduling
- Pre and post event communication with coaches & managers
- Source & manage all vendors
- RISK Management
- Online check in
- Facility & hotel program liaison
- Filing appropriate applications with State/National associations
- Tournament expense management
- Collection and posting of all tournament fees
- Work with Executive Board to manage annual tournament budget and assist in setting fees for each event.
Sales
- Recruit teams and clubs to attend tournaments
- Communicate with team coaches/managers to retain teams from prior event
- Manage an up to date contacts database for teams, coaches, and administrators
- Attend tournaments, trade shows, and other events to promote our portfolio and interact with team/club officials
- Develop leads for new business locally, regionally and nationally
- Recruit college coaches to attend showcase events
Marketing/Sponsorship
- Assist Marketing Department with development of promotional materials
- Assist Marketing Department in the development of event marketing plan
- Obtain local, regional and national level event sponsorships
- Promotion of events via email, social media & traditional advertising
- Salary commensurate with experience. This role is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. The successful candidate must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship to work in the US.
