Lockhart Primary Care is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to join a team of professionals committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered, and compassionate care for our clients. As a Medical Assistant in this fast-paced family practice clinic, you will play a key role delivering high-quality patient care under the direction of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider with the industry leading customer service for which this clinic is known.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant Certification (preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
- 1 year of experience in clinical support role (preferred)
- Basic computer skills with experience using electronic health records
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with excellent customer service experience
- Ability to maintain organization, manage multiple priorities, and follow through on tasks
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Commitment to teamwork, positive attitude, and self-motivated work ethic
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
Duties
- Escort patients to exam room and prepare for provider visit including generating notes in the electronic health record, collecting health histories, obtaining vital signs
- Provide clinical support for Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers including drawing blood, administering medications and vaccines, assisting with exams and procedures, obtaining EKGs
- Prepare and clean exam rooms, replenish medical supplies
- Serve as a patient liaison through phone call triage, processing medication refill requests, generating referrals to specialists and prior authorizations as directed by providers
- Perform clerical tasks including answering phones, scanning, filing, and maintaining patient records
- Assist with check in processes as needed
