Manager, Flight Safety

Description:Manager of the Flight Safety Team reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Aviation Safety. This person will help formulate flight safety and aircraft mishap investigation policy, processes, and plans. He/She will direct the qualification and training standards for flight safety mishap investigators and coordinates and manages Lockheed Martin Aeronautics flight safety programs.
This person will ensure support of technical interchange meetings, SSGs, and SSWGs, manage the development and presentation of lessons learned briefings to customers. Conducts product safety boards, the aviation safety council, safety telecons, and flying safety meetings. Coordinates the flight safety reviews of technical publications; maintains the flight safety section of the Field Information Network and is responsible for the update and maintenance of the flight safety incident database. Assigns mishap investigation duties to staff investigators and performs other flight safety duties as assigned.
This person will be responsible for all aspects of Flight Safety program staffing (re-assignments and placements, recruitment and selection of new employees and terminations) and personnel management (training, mentoring, career development, performance and compensation, and promotions).

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Engineering or a technical discipline
• Possess a strong technical background in aviation
• Experience leading a project or team
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, US Citizenship is required

• Graduate of a recognized Aviation Safety/Accident Investigator Course.
• Experience working with USAF/NAVAIR customers.
• Experience with F-35 or F-16.
