As a Digital Payload Systems Test Engineer with Space, you would:
• Develop digital payload solutions for Space and Missile platforms.
• Plan, conduct, and coordinate software development activities.
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment.
• Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.
• Apply knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software.
• Correct program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. - Ensure software standards are met.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Testing and qualification of satellite digital payload systems to include hardware, FPGA gateware, and embedded flight software functions.
• Troubleshooting complex digital satellite systems to meet test objectives
• Script writing to execute digital satellite payload command and control functions (e.g. Python).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers, management, and peers.
• Experience with test equipment and high speed digital interfaces.
Basic Qualifications:
• Prior experience with developing requirement verification tests
• Proficiency with test script development e.g. Python
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers, management, and peers.
Desired Skills:
• Prior experience with High Data Rate digital systems and interfaces (e.g. SpaceWire, MIL-STD-1553)
• Experience developing Analog/Digital interfaces
• Experience with full-life cycle of ASIC/FGPA development including Register Transfer Level (RTL) hardware descriptive languages (IE VHDL, Verilog)
• Prior satellite digital or embedded software design experience
• Prior experience developing digital and software test systems (testers)
• Satellite operations and/or command and control experience
• Proven ability to develop analytical modeling and simulation tools/environments
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
• Active clearance US DoD or TS/SCI
