Lockton’s People Solutions Practice continues to grow, and we are seeking qualified actuaries to help support our recent and future growth. We offer a flexible & hybrid work environment that allows our associates to split their time between in person and remote. We are looking to place an intern in one of the following offices:

• New York, NY
• Philadelphia, PA

Core Responsibilities:

Contributes to Lockton’s intellectual capital through a capstone intern project

Provides actuarial support via the following workstreams

• Annual forecasting of health care claims costs
• Calculation of incurred but not reported (IBNR) reserves
• Financial evaluation of carrier RFPs on behalf of employers
• Actuarial Plan value calculations
  
  

Qualifications

• Must be in pursuit of a 4-year university degree in a quantitative field (e.g. actuarial science, mathematics, risk management, business)
• Currently sitting for actuarial exams. Exams passed are a bonus.
• Able to work and communicate effectively as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent quantitative, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
• Passionate about concise, effective communication of complex calculations as much as the calculations themselves. It is critical to be able to communicate across all mediums (verbal, written, virtual, etc.)
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and hit internal and external deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of SQL, PowerBI is an asset, but not a requirement
• Willing to travel occasionally for internal and external meetings
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position, now or in the future
