Contract Investigator

Loevy & Loevy is seeking an Investigator on a contract basis. Essential functions of the Investigator position include:

• Locating and serving witnesses all over the Chicagoland area
• Thoroughly preparing for and interviewing witnesses
• Taking written statements from witnesses
• Locating and obtaining documents and information at courthouses and other locations
• Conduct case-specific research and interviews
• Document evidence and prepare detailed investigative reports
• Communicating comfortably and adeptly with individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds
• Working and regularly communicating with Loevy attorneys and staff
• Handling investigations at all stages of the litigation process
• Being extremely well-organized
• Traveling extensively throughout Illinois and occasionally other states, including to prisons as necessary.

The Staff Investigator position is based in Loevy’s West Loop office (Fulton Market area) in Chicago. However, regular travel is required.

Qualifications: One year of investigation experience preferred, but not required. Candidates with backgrounds in criminal or social justice will be seriously considered. Must have a reliable vehicle for travel. A college degree is preferred, as is a background in criminal justice and/or social work. Candidates must either already be a Notary Public or able to become one upon hiring.
