We are currently seeking an Equipment/Building Mechanic to join the team at our Omaha, NE food processing location – Lunch Box Foods.
Job Purpose:
Accountable for all aspects of maintenance for multi-plant processing operation. Responsible for all plant equipment which includes but is not limited to: processing; packaging; labelling and support machinery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance: Take charge of maintaining production and facilities equipment, including food processing and packaging technology. Ensure the optimal performance of support equipment such as HVAC, wastewater systems, and grounds.
- Preventive Maintenance Program: Play a vital role in adhering to and contributing to the development of our Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Cost Savings Initiatives: Actively identify opportunities to reduce costs and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Team Collaboration: Be a valuable team player by assisting colleagues in resolving machine-related issues.
- Troubleshooting Expertise: Collaborate with fellow personnel to troubleshoot a wide range of mechanical, electronic, and control issues with our machinery.
- Equipment Mastery: Showcase your skills by repairing, installing, maintaining, adjusting, and troubleshooting high-speed packaging equipment, and demonstrate proficiency in industrial machinery troubleshooting.
- All-Weather Commitment: Perform assigned duties in all types of weather conditions, ensuring minimal disruptions to our operations.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage the coordination of service calls with vendors for contracted service work, including vital preventative maintenance for our fleet vehicles.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED and a 2-year electronics studies program.
- Alternatively: 3 to 5 years of experience as a machine technician (experience in a food processing plant is preferred).
Technical Skills:
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills, with a proven track record in troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in the safe and effective use of machine shop tools.
- Familiarity with machinery equipped with PLCs, VFDs, temperature controllers, and knowledge of inkjet printing equipment, labeling machines, metal detectors, and scales.
- Experience with Electrical and Electronic Control Systems.
Communication and Teamwork:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Capacity to train individuals and actively listen to departmental concerns.
Safety Procedures:
- Proficiency in lock-out/tag-out safety procedures.
Certifications:
- Valid LFF's (License to Operate Forklift) and pallet jack operating certification.
Flexibility:
- Willingness to perform all other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Fix mechanical problems such us strip down machines.
- Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- This position is located at a production facility with a mechanical environment with moderate noise level.
- Cold environment area may be damp/wet moderate noise level.
- Large volume production facility includes: manual, semi-automatic and automatic equipment conveyor system packaging/filling.
- PPE as required.
