As a Backend Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in configuring and tailoring Cockpit, our cutting-edge satellite operations software, for our DoD customers. Additionally, you'll be instrumental in crafting micro-services that facilitate the seamless command and control of our sophisticated space infrastructure. Collaboration will be key, as you'll regularly engage with our ground software, flight software, and other interdisciplinary teams.

Mission Objectives
- Configure and customize Cockpit, Loft's satellite operations software, to meet the unique requirements of DoD missions.
- Design tools for operations, autopilot, and activities, ensuring seamless functionality.
- Facilitate command and telemetry transmission.
- Engage in code development, focusing on the enhancement of our services.
- Collaborate closely with FSW/ESW/AIT teams for seamless integration.
- Provide internal support for the utilization of ground software (Cockpit).
- Participate actively in spacecraft operations, ensuring collective involvement and success.
Mission Mandates
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance is required. Because this position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
- Additionally, an active DoD Secret clearance is required, with the capability to obtain Top Secret clearance. Active Top Secret clearance, particularly with recent experience within the last 2 years, or active involvement in Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) programs, is strongly desired.
- Proficiency in Python and Docker.
- Experience with web development backend frameworks and API design.
Mission Credentials
- Preference will be given to candidates with 1) a DoD or Intelligence Community Top Secret background investigation with at least 3 years of eligibility remaining or CE status; and SCI eligibility with current experience in SCI programs, other control systems, and/or Special Access Programs, or 2) a current in-scope DoD SECRET background investigation with at least 3 years of eligibility remaining, or Continuous Evaluation (CE) status, along with willingness and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
- Familiarity with Django, GraphQL, database interactions, Kubernetes, and Influx/Timescale DB.
