ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS :
The responsibilities of a communications officer is to receive and dispatch emergency calls for Logan County. This includes dispatching for Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS as well as mutual aid requests from neighboring agencies. The communications officer also provides the appropriate post- dispatch/ Pre- arrival instructions such as CPR or first aid and gathers as much information as possible from the caller to relay to first responders.
Communications Officers answer all calls that come in on 911/emergency lines as well as administrative and non - emergency lines and will act as points of contact for after hour agencies. They are to gather information from callers and assess the needs based on the information that is provided and what type of response is required. Communications officers also maintain the LEADS/NCIC records entered for Logan County Sheriff’s Office and village police departments within the county.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
A candidate for communications officer must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and must also possess exceptional communication skills, have clear audible speech and proper phone etiquette. Candidates must be able to work in a high stress and fast paced environment while being able to multi-task. Once a candidate has been selected they must obtain their Emergency Medical Dispatch training within a year of hire date. They must also have or obtain LEADS and NCIC certification by the end of their probation period.

Domestic Violence conviction

M1-M3 conviction within the past year
