We seek a highly motivated individual to oversee the daily operations of a dedicated finance department and be a leader in the transformation of finance and administration processes to accommodate LSI’s ongoing growth. The position requires an individual who can thoughtfully handle day to day management, challenge existing processes, and develop innovative ways to improve efficiency and accuracy. Experience handling complex accounting systems is needed along with strong analytical perception to interpret financial data, detect errors, and identify important trends. The ideal personality is predisposed to listen, learn, and assess, then provide thoughtful solutions.
Role Description:
- Lead the operations of the accounting department including billing and collections, accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll functions. Be the go-to resource for day-to-day guidance for the accounting staff.
- Develop a deep transaction level understanding of financial and operational processes.
- Support and develop corporate accounting team. Provide feedback on an ongoing basis and through formal performance reviews.
- Collaborate and support the CFO with accurate and timely information and analysis. Participate in special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
- Take initiative to lead special projects that utilize technological solutions to improve the efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes.
- Maintain process documentation and institutional policies. Update as necessary for evolution of finance and finance related processes.
- Oversee the monthly financial statement close process and production of financial statements, including handling the accounting for complex accounts.
- Oversee state and local tax compliance including departmental processes to identify taxable sales and purchases. Work with project managers and accounting staff to conclude on whether sales are subject to sales tax. Remain current on tax legislative changes.
- Estimate the company’s income tax obligations. Ensure the timely submission of estimated payments. Reconcile annual returns to estimates.
- Develop relationships across the organization. Be regarded as a trusted financial leader with a service mentality internally and externally.
- Monitor cash balances and oversee cash forecasting.
- Manage the annual financial statement audit and 401k audit.
- Direct and take an active role in producing financial management reports and analysis.
Qualifications:
- Public accounting experience at a regional or larger firm highly preferred.
- Skills in general and strategic business management, innovative and visionary planning, analyzing and decision making, effective leadership, communication and customer relations.
- A comprehensive understanding of technical accounting practices and GAAP.
- Knowledge of sales, use & local tax compliance desired.
- Proficiency designing and creating advanced excel spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence.
- Requires Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in progressively more responsible finance & accounting positions.
- CPA highly preferred
