$85,000-$92,000 DOE  
 
Job Purpose 
Provide strong visible leadership as the Operations Safety Manager to the Logisticus Group organization. Maintain a robust and comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety Program that ensures the safety of our employees as well as those working with us. Support the business navigating through compliance complexities and provide timely education, advice, and solutions in a manner that meets our employees and customer’s needs. As a senior safety leader, the Operations Safety Manager is expected to act as a role model demonstrating to a consistently high standard their personal drive and commitment to the organizational goals, vision, values and supporting behaviors. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
On a day-to-day basis the Operations Safety Manager has the following areas of specific responsibility within each of their key roles listed below. 
 
Acts as a role model 
 
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates strong personal leadership and managerial capability.
  • Displays excellence in communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Works collaboratively with all key directors and their direct reports as appropriate to ensure the right people and resources are applied to the right jobs.
  • Demonstrates personal excellence in safety and quality operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
  • Promote safe work practices among employees through training and education programs. 
  • Proactively spends time in the field with Engineering, Field Operations, Projects, and Warehousing to build confidence with these teams. 
  • Demonstrates personal deep practical understanding of the operational and project challenges in running complex field-based projects.
  • Proactively manages a clear schedule of risks together with implementing proactive and appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively reports all results in the areas of safety, quality, commercial and operational results. 
 
Operational Development 
 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of safety policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.
  • Creates and implements best practices for safety and quality across the organization.
  • Coordinate with other departments to address safety-related issues that cross organizational boundaries.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings with employees to communicate new initiatives and receive feedback.
  • Ensure that all safety-related documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible to employees.
  • Develop communication plans for responding to emergencies or crises.
  • Conduct regular emergency response drills to ensure that employees are prepared.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies during emergency response situations.
  • Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure it is adequate for the hazards present.
  • Conduct site-specific hazard assessments to ensure that all potential risks are identified and addressed.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses to determine root causes and prevent future incidents.
  • Identify potential hazards in the workplace and take appropriate measures to reduce or eliminate them.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on safety-related topics for senior management.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the workplace.
  • Monitor employee behavior to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular safety training for all employees to maintain their knowledge and skills.
 
REQUIRED Traits:
 
  • This position requires the ability to travel up to 50% of the time. 
  • Proven experience as a safety professional or equivalent position.
  • Knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and various business software (Teams)
 
Requirements and Skills (Current Certifications OR Required to be completed during the for 6 months of employment)
 
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) – Required.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent – (will be a plus, but NOT required).
  • Certified in Root Cause Analysis (Taproot or equivalent within 6 months of employment).
