VENUE
Lolo's Surf Cantina is an inspired Mexican cuisine serving tacos, tortas, quesadillas, tequila, mezcal and much more casual dining restaurant. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner also serving guests by the beach and hotel guests by the pool.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Runner ensures that all guests have the highest quality dining experience possible. The runner assists servers and kitchen team in running food from the kitchen to guests as quickly as possible.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
● Deliver food to tables carefully ensuring that they are brought out in a timely manner and in optimal food temperature.
● Expedite food when Chef/Kitchen Supervisor is not present. Read incoming orders tickets, put them in order. Assist kitchen staff with any special guest requests. Make sure food items are prepared and run according to tickets.
● Runner makes sure all beverage items are run to correct tables/chairs/lounges.
● Any tickets not rung in clearly run and check with the server to make sure guest needs are prepared accordingly.
● Make sure the expo area is clean and clear at all times. Equipment needed including to go cups are stacked up.
● Polish glassware, silverware chinaware. Stack up service stations.
● Promptly greet guests as they are seated.
● Serve guests, water and butter upon their arrival, and provide refills as needed.
● Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for the next course.
● Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to servers as needed.
● Communicate with server and hostess to assure efficient seating, table utilization and customer service.
● Provides support to servers in all aspects of service, serving as the go-between for the kitchen staff & servers in addition to interacting directly with guests.
● Stock all service areas and maintain adequate supplies during the meal period.
● Clean and preset all tables, fill glasses, assist with service of beverages.
● Ensure that each and every guest is treated in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
● Thank guests as they are departing.
● Maintain personal health and sanitation standards based on health regulations.
● Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.
● To follow all company/bar safety rules, policies, and procedures.
● Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED LICENSE/QUALIFICATIONS:
● Minimum of one year of experience as a runner.
● Minimum of two years of experience in the restaurant industry is preferred.
● High school diploma.
● Food Handlers permit required.
● Basic Math Skills add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
SKILLS/APTITUDES:
● Good communication skills (verbally interacts with management, team members and guests.)
● Strong customer service orientation.
● Ability to accept constructive criticism and work calmly and effectively under pressure.
● Time management.
● Multi-task oriented.
● Self-Motivated.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
● Ability to speak and hear, vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
● Constant walking with some standing.
● Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
● Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 35 pounds.
● Regularly required to use hands and frequent washing of hands.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
● Exposure to extreme heat.
● The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
● The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with difficult guests.
● Work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays.
