Houseman/ Chief Steward

Long Cove Club is seeking a Houseman/ Chief Steward to join our Clubhouse team. Responsibilities include the set-up and breakdown of all events held at the Club, inventory and proper storage of materials based on Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the Clubhouse. This position requires the ability to lift heavy items, work independently and maintain a professional and friendly demeanor.

Houseman Responsibilities:

• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of dining areas, storage, service areas, and hallways.
• Assist with inventory, care, and restocking of banquet supplies such as linen, china, glassware, and flatware.
• Assemble dance floors, buffets, chairs, tables according to the BEO.
• Provide assistance to servers during events when required.
• Ensure accurate event setup materials are accessible for FOH staff based on the BEO.
• Ensure accurate set-up of catering events based on the BEO.
• Maintain cleanliness of banquet rooms/spaces.
• Exercise caution and safety when moving furniture and equipment.
• Break-down event furniture and equipment upon completion.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Houseman Requirements:

• Flexible schedule to include early mornings, late nights, and/or overnight hours.
• Capable of working extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
• Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to interact with members and staff.
• Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day. Must also be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary.
• This position will alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and with proper lighting to an outdoor setting with variable climate and lighting.
