Program Aide

The Longhorn Council, BSA is currently seeking candidates for the role of Program Aide. Program Aides will be working under the direction of the Outreach Executive. Aides will assist in the administration and supervision of Scouting programs at local community centers and schools. The BSA provides lesson plans and materials needed for the program. The program fosters self-esteem, ethical decision-making, leadership skills, physical fitness, family and community involvement, and the importance of community service.

The Longhorn Council is commitment to making sure that all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their gender, circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background. Candidates applying for this role are instrumental in ensuring an accessible and equitable program for all. A successful candidate is willing to assist with elementary and middle school aged youth. Candidates must be responsible, have excellent communication skills, be punctual, and serve as a consistent role model for the young people they will mentor.

Ideal candidates for this role are in teachers, in college, retired, or those who are available during late afternoon and early evenings. All applicants must have a mode of transportation, a willingness to make phone calls from your personal phone and be able to pass a criminal background check. In addition, all applicants must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance. A desired skill is the ability to speak Spanish.
