JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Check-Out Receptionist(Cashier)
DEPARTMENT: Front Office
REPORTS TO: Front Office Supervisor
Job Summary: This individual is responsible for checking-out patients, posting charges, collecting payments, balancing daily ledger, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments.
Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two years minimum experience in medical practice with some health insurance background.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Patient Check-Out
- Check-out patients, greeting everyone in a pleasant and professional manner
- Reviews fee tickets (superbill) for correct charges and diagnosis marked; enters information into computer.
- Explains all fees and patient financial responsibility.
- Collects fees for services or makes other necessary arrangements.
- Schedules return appointments for follow-up as necessary.
- Verifies patient insurance and address information.
- Scans new or updated paperwork to patient’s EMR.
- Ensures patient satisfaction.
2. Appointment Scheduling
- Schedules appointments with the appropriate physician to ensure top quality care to patients.
- Helps confirm appointments daily.
- Cancels and reschedules appointments as necessary; follows-up on cancellations/no shows.
- Updates cancellation/no-shows and corresponds with MD directly to seek further instructions.
- Makes referral appointments on an as-needed basis.
3. Administrative
- Schedules and/or enters recalls for future appointments to be later contacted or mailed.
- Answers telephone calls promptly (within two rings) and addresses caller’s reason for call.
- Directs calls/takes messages for techs, doctors, or other office personnel.
- Disperse incoming faxes to appropriate department or personnel.
- Disperse contents of doctor outboxes to appropriate department or personnel.
- Assists in general office duties and other duties as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $14.00 per hour
