Job Title : Maintenance Specialist 1- LTI
FLSA Status : Nonexempt

Reports to : Assistant Manager, Aurora / Aurora XI
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE :
The Maintenance Specialist 1- LTI is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting specialized the Tie Set Out power units.
This will include both preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Safety Focus and Machine Operations
- Maintain and troubleshoot TSO power units; including but not limited to diagnosis of equipment failures, selecting method of repair, cleaning debris and materials from parts, work areas, and equipment.
- Dismantles, repairs, and reassembles various components of the equipment.
- Uses typical mechanic and electrician tools and test equipment.
- Performs work in technical areas such as fabrication, assembly, design, etc.
- Ability to read electrical schematics.
- Conducts work according to standards set by the customer.
- Perform routine job inspections to ensure that the company polices are being followed and routine maintenance is begin performed.
People Management
Interact with field staff, in person or via phone, to troubleshoot and coordinate repairs to TSO power units.
Communications
Communicate effectively between all stakeholders, internal and external; including but not limited to customers, operators, supervisors, and routine paperwork (as required).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : High School Diploma or GED
Experience : 4 years’ experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of locomotives.
4 years’ experience with the use of hand tools, diagnostic equipment, computer hardware, and software.
3 years’ experience in electrical diagnostics, circuits, and repairs. Must be able to read electrical schematics.
Licenses / Certifications : Maintain Railroad Certifications
Maintain valid Drivers’ License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- A working knowledge of railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or combination.
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly become familiar with Railroad products and services, particularly pertaining to maintenance of track and structures.
- Knowledge of computers and software with good word processing skills using Microsoft applications.
- Ability to maintain a flexible travel calendar.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Some college in a related field
Experience : Mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
License : Class B CDL Drivers’ License
Valid Passport with clean background, ability to obtain work visa in foreign countries
