What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Knowledge and experience working with and utilizing databases, including basic understanding of SQL and PL/SQL.
• Knowledge or experience with integration technologies, APIs, and web services
• Familiarity and entry-level proficiency with a variety of software programming languages, such as Object-Oriented Programming languages like Java, .Net, or Python, or scripting languages such as bash.
• Entry-level knowledge of software application architecture and server technologies
• Knowledge and understanding of all phases of the software lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, and testing.
• Knowledge and experience with data architecture solutions.
• Familiarity and proficiency with version control solutions such as Git.
• Familiarity or entry-level experience configuring, administering, troubleshooting, and debugging a variety of IT systems.
• Knowledge and entry-level experience with technical documentation typical of software development, implementation, and maintenance, including but not limited to functional requirements, testing documentation, user guides, etc.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with peers and all levels of external and internal personnel, technical and non-technical.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Additional Job Requirements for Software Developer 2:

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

• Demonstrated analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Intermediate proficiency with one or more programming languages
• Demonstrated experience analyzing and defining business requirements, and researching, designing/developing and proposing business solutions with technical designs.
• Demonstrated experience as a technical contributor to IT implementation or major upgrade projects
• Experience utilizing Scrum or Kanban framework.
• Knowledge of the DevSecOps culture and principles and experience in CI/CD development, and deployment of software in a diverse application environment.
• Demonstrated experience with technical documentation typical of software development, implementation, and maintenance, including but not limited to functional requirements, testing documentation, user guides, etc.

Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience supporting and extending Cloud applications.
• Experience or proficiency developing applications using APEX.
• Experience with integration platforms, such as Boomi.
• Demonstrate experience supporting, extending, enhancing, and upgrading Commercial of the Shelf Products (COTS).
• Experience with developing system integration plans, including consumption and authoring of Web Services.
• Experience with integration platforms such as Boomi, and with consuming Web Services.
• Full stack development experience a plus.
• Experience in writing and implementing business solutions using agile practices and principles (to include utilizing tools such as Jira and/or Confluence).

Work Environment:

Work Location: The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours of the Laboratory location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
