The Los Angeles County Office of Education is seeking experienced individuals with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial principles for the position of Senior Accountant.
Under general direction, coordinates and performs complex professional accounting work in the computation, recording, and reporting of financial transactions; plans and organizes the work of subordinate, technical, and clerical employees.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the FollowingKnowledge:
- Generally accepted accounting and auditing principles (GAAP), practices and methods and their application to governmental accounting
- Federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations as they pertain to accounting procedures and systems and records retention
- Principles of financial administration, including budget development and financial reporting
- Concepts and applications of automated data processing systems and equipment related to financial systems and accounting operations
- Methods and techniques of financial analysis and research
- Current office practices, procedures, terminology, equipment and technology related to financial record keeping
- Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

Required Education and Experience
Education: A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter verifiable college coursework units in accounting from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience: Two years of professional accounting experience.
Additional Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites may be required for some positions.
Hybrid remote schedules may be available.
Selection Process
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a multiple-choice examination, a performance exam, and a structured interview.
